Small Changes, Big Differences.

Going to restaurants is something that is hard to change. But there are thing you can buy on the menus of most restaurant that will be healthier and decrees your overall calorie consumption. With some small changes like drinking tea and having salads you can make a big difference in your goals. This is what I did for my first two days on my diet.

My normal meal at Wendy’s is a Baconator, interesting name Bacon and Terminator in one word. I digress, the Triple Baconator with all the topping is 1840 calories. Not to mention that I also had the large chili cheese fries, large root beer and finish off with the large Frosty. This brought my meal calorie total to a whapping 3,370! And there is the whole refilling the large soda as you leave the restaurant, so add 360 to the total.

So instead of that lovely meal, I decided to have a the Berry Almond Chicken Salad with the Pomegranate Vinaigrette Dressing only 480 calories and a large light lemonade bring my total to just 515. This little change reduces my intake for this one meal by more than 2,800 calories. This with my two meal replacements and three snack my total calorie intake for the day is 1,215.

My meal on the second day will be at Panda Express. I love my Chinese Food and normally pig out at an all I can eat, and I can eat a lot. But panda is more like a cafeteria so you play for what you choose. Even here I can rack up the calories. My normal meal here is the fried rice with orange chicken, Beijing Beef and honey shrimp. Don’t forget the eggroll, sweet and sour sauce, fortune cookie and large raspberry tea (with refill). This rack up my total to 3,052! Now let us see what I did differently. I had the mixed veggies with beef n broccoli and mushroom chicken. Since I already know my fortune, I skipped the cookie. And with plain tea at 0 calories, my calorie count for this meal is 370!

Over 2,500 less than I was eating before. This combined with my three snacks and two meals bring my second day total to 1,170. I could have another snack at this rate! Right now I am feeling good and not starving at all. I just need to keep drinking more water and this thing with be working. I can do it!

Where to start!?!?

I have done them all, almost every one you could imagine. Atkins, SlimFast, SugarBusters and more, so many out there and so much time utilized. But what happened, in the end... well nothing really. I have weighed 300, 350, 375... 401.6! What the HECK! That must not be right, I must be doing it wrong. How can I it say that. But I was not hallucinating, my scale did read that gosh offal number. How can this be.

The truth is that I have not stuck to these diets. I have taken a meal off, then a day off, next thing I know is that I have not been on my diet for a year or two. Life as they say just gets in the way. And the thing is I can do it, I have done it. I have won work competitions. I have lost weight to the point that I needed new cloths. Then you wanna take a break. You tell yourself you deserve it. Then you gain it all back and more.

I have seen my family suffer, friend suffer. I know the end game. If I do not lose this excess weight, I will die sooner than later. And who would really want that. There has to be a turning point. I have to decide to do something. If I don't, my body sure as heck will. My joint will fail, my heart will stop. Something will happen and I know it is lurking in the shadow.

This is why I am putting it out there, my story. I am going to do this, no matter what. I have the knowledge, I have the experience. The only thing standing in my way is the guy staring back at me in the mirror. He is a handsome fellow! I have not hated him, though some might say that would be a good motivation. I see a guy how is good the way he is, but CAN be something more. It is not for anyone, it is for me and my health.

Now the question is where to start. Diet is where I'll start. Most diet plans are simple and similar. Decrease you total intake and increase your infrequence of intake. I am sure that my total calorie intake can spike to well over 2000 in one meal, let alone one day. I am going to do a 6 meal diet that will have three 100/150 calorie snacks, two 200/250 calorie meals and 500/750 calorie meal. Now a days there are loads of snacks and shakes that you can buy at the stores that come packages as 100 calorie snack and meal replacements around 200 calories. I will start with these package produces and then work my way to a healthier, more natural diet.

I do take supplements daily, so we are covered there. The only thing left to do is start increasing my activity. As a gamer and expert couch potato, I am skill at the ability to sit in one local and waste a day away. I have once played a video game two straight days though. FF7 and pizza, who would love that. But, that has got me nowhere. It is time to get up like those commercial say and start moving. My goal right now is to get to the gym in a month and start working out again. I guess I did not mention that I did go to the gym before, and like my diet, I have taken a nice long break for it.

So what I am going to do is start telling my story, my struggle and maybe with this here, I may have the motivation to finish what I have started. I an tired of hurting and scared of worse things to come. I will up-date this often with stories and information. Let us see how this evolves and how it will incorporate with my life to come. I too would like to do videos and other things. We will see what the future hold. For now, it is time to get rid of this 400lbs glutton in the room.
